Privacy Policy

Last updated ยท August 2026

Welcome to CLtimer. We respect your privacy because we're a cube timer, not a private investigator with an unhealthy interest in your browser history.

We collect information that is actually necessary to make CLtimer work. Solve data, sessions, multiplayer information, and certain technical information may be processed when required by the features you use.

We don't need your location, your family tree, your camera roll, or a detailed explanation of why you have attempted the same scramble 37 times.

Offline solves can remain stored in your browser. That means your terrible session can stay right there on your device, where it belongs.

Multiplayer is different. Your opponents obviously need to see the information required for the race. That's how racing works. If you don't want someone seeing your 31.42, perhaps the solution is not a privacy setting.

We take reasonable steps to protect information handled by CLtimer. If you discover a security problem, tell us. Please don't spend three hours exploiting it and then arrive in our inbox with "guys I found something ๐Ÿ’€".

1. Information CLtimer may handle

CLtimer is built to work with as little information as possible. In practice:

  • Solve and session data: your solve times, the scramble attached to each solve, penalties, and the session a solve belongs to.
  • Settings: your timer, scramble, statistics, appearance, sound and accessibility preferences.
  • Multiplayer room data: when you create or join a race: the room code, the display name you type in, and your solve results for that race.
  • Support messages: the text you send to Cubora, our caretaker character, plus basic app context (current page, session name, solve count, theme, timer settings) so his answers aren't useless.

We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, address, payment details or government ID. There is no account to create.

2. Browser and local storage

Solves, sessions and settings are stored in your browser's local storage on your own device. They are not uploaded anywhere unless you use a feature that requires it (such as a multiplayer race). Clearing your browser data deletes them permanently, and without a confirmation dialog from us.

3. Cookies and similar technologies

CLtimer does not use advertising cookies, analytics cookies, or cross-site tracking pixels. The only browser storage we use is the local storage described above, which exists purely to remember your solves and preferences between visits.

4. How information is used

Information is used to run the features you asked for: timing solves, generating statistics and averages, keeping sessions separate, running races, exporting reports, and answering your support questions. That's it. We don't sell data, and we don't build advertising profiles.

5. Multiplayer and what other participants see

A race room is shared by design. Other participants in the same room can see the display name you chose, your solve times for that race, your progress during the round, and the final results. Anyone with the room code can join, so treat the code like an invitation, not a secret.

If you'd rather your solves stayed between you and your cube, use the normal timer instead of a race.

6. Data retention

Local data (solves, sessions, settings) stays on your device until you delete it. Race rooms are temporary: they exist while a race is active, and abandoned rooms are cleaned up automatically. Support conversations with Cubora are not kept as a user profile. Messages are sent to generate a reply and are not tied to any account, because there is no account.

7. Deleting your data

You can remove your data at any time, without asking us:

  • Delete individual solves from the solve history.
  • Clear or delete a session from the Sessions page.
  • Use Settings โ†’ Data โ†’ clear all data to wipe everything CLtimer stored locally.
  • Clear your browser's site data, which achieves the same thing with more drama.

8. Third-party services

CLtimer uses a hosting provider to serve the site, a backend service to run multiplayer race rooms, and an AI provider to generate Cubora's replies. These services process only what is needed for those features to function. We do not use advertising networks or third-party analytics trackers.

9. Security

We take reasonable technical measures to protect the information CLtimer handles, but no website can promise perfect security, and anyone who does is selling something. Report security issues through Cubora rather than testing how far an exploit goes.

10. Children's privacy

CLtimer is a general-audience cube timer and is not directed at young children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since CLtimer has no accounts and asks for no personal details, the amount of information involved is minimal by design.

11. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as CLtimer changes. The "last updated" date above will change when it does. Continuing to use CLtimer after an update means the updated policy applies.

12. Contact

Questions about privacy? Ask Cubora below. He is sarcastic, but he will pass on anything that matters.

We collect what CLtimer needs, avoid collecting what it doesn't, and have absolutely no interest in discovering what possessed you to say "last solve" 46 times in a row.

Got a problem?

Found a bug? Something isn't working? Have feedback? Have a brilliant idea that absolutely nobody asked for? You could write it down on a piece of paper and throw it into your nearest dustbin. Or, you know, use Cubora. He's the caretaker. Apparently we're doing customer service now.
