CLtimer measures your solves. It does not measure your excuses.

We try to keep the timer accurate and reliable, but software occasionally breaks, networks disappear, browsers develop personalities, and phones decide that touching the screen means something completely different from what you meant.

If CLtimer gives you a terrible result, check what actually happened before blaming the software. And if CLtimer gives you an amazing result, suddenly the software is working perfectly, isn't it?

Statistics are provided for tracking and informational purposes. Your Ao5 is not financial advice, your PB is not a medical diagnosis, and your 9-second single does not automatically make you the fastest person alive.

1. Timer accuracy

CLtimer measures time using your browser's timing APIs. That is precise enough for practice, but it is not laboratory equipment and it is not a WCA Stackmat. Displayed precision is not the same as guaranteed accuracy, and small variations can come from the browser, the device, or the moment your finger actually left the screen.

2. Browser and device limitations

Results can be affected by background tabs, throttled timers, low-power modes, browser extensions, touch-input quirks, and keyboards with unusual key handling. Solve data is stored in your browser, so clearing site data, using private browsing, or switching devices can mean your history is not there when you return.

3. Network and multiplayer limitations

Races depend on your internet connection and on a backend service. Latency, disconnects, reconnects or outages may affect synchronisation, live standings and final results. Multiplayer results are for friendly competition, and they are not officially adjudicated.

4. Statistics and averages

Mo3, Ao5, Ao12 and personal bests are calculated from the solves stored in the active session, using the settings you chose (including whether averages are trimmed). Change the settings, delete solves, or switch sessions, and the numbers change with them. They are informational, not authoritative.

5. Scrambles

Scrambles are generated to a WCA-style format for practice purposes. They are not generated by, or certified as, official competition scrambles.

6. Third-party services

Some features rely on third-party hosting, backend and AI services. Cubora, the support bot, is an AI character: he is often right, occasionally wrong, and always sarcastic. Treat his answers as help, not as legal, medical or official advice. The pages on this site are the source of truth for policy questions.

7. Availability

CLtimer may be unavailable at times due to maintenance, outages or changes. We do not guarantee continuous availability or that any particular feature will remain in the app.

8. Official competitions

CLtimer is not affiliated with the World Cube Association or any other governing body and is not a substitute for official timing equipment. For competitions, follow the organiser's rules, procedures and equipment requirements, not the numbers on this site.

9. No guarantee of error-free operation

CLtimer is provided "as is". We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that solve data will never be lost. Export anything you genuinely care about.

10. Your responsibility

You are responsible for how you use CLtimer, for backing up important solve data, and for verifying results before treating them as meaningful.

CLtimer can tell you the time. It cannot tell your friends to stop laughing at your lockup.

Got a problem?

Found a bug? Something isn't working? Have feedback? Have a brilliant idea that absolutely nobody asked for? You could write it down on a piece of paper and throw it into your nearest dustbin. Or, you know, use Cubora. He's the caretaker. Apparently we're doing customer service now.
